11th BB Company
Today is the Commencement Parade for our graduating Boys and the commissioning of our new NCOs. Actually I am not sure this is my how many Commencement Parade but just as every growing up process of a Boy is unique, every Commencement Parade is unique too. It is a rite of passage that symbolises the growing up of a Boy to Man. I have been speaking to the Boys for the past few weeks about growing up in the company. I have been sharing with them the priviledge of growing up together with them as a teacher, officer and a fellow brother in Christ. I encouraged them to continue to come together as a BB company and to grow together as a community of Boys, sharing a similar experience and maturing in the Lord together. Today, as I witness the passing out of the Sec 4 and 5 Boys, I am so happy for them and I rejoice together with them in their promotion and progression. It is by the grace of God that they are able to stand as Boys of strong character and with integrity. My prayer goes all out to them, that the Lord God will continue to watch over them and see them through the next phase of their youth. God’s work is not finished with them and I am very sure that many will return to the company to continue to mentor and help their juniors to grow strong in His grace.
However, I was also upset about the officers. I was rather disappointed to see only one officer came on time to start the parade punctually with the Boys. How can these Boys continue to grow when our officers themselves need to shape out and lead by example. Something is amiss somewhere and I am very determined to address the issues with them soon. I was telling Marc that we must try our very best to hold the company together. We must do this with God as our Enabler. I really must think through how I should put this across to them as diplomatically as possible. I really need God to show me His way and to guide me in this. This cannot go on for too long. We need to rectify this issue as soon as possible before the Boys pick it up and learn from the officers.
Whatever it is, from the bottom of my heart, I would like to congratulate the Sec 4 and 5 Boys for having to pass out from the company and they can now move on to do greater things in life. For the new NCOs I pray God’s blessings over them and may they continue to grow in God’s grace and mercy. God, watch over them and lead them in your right path.
